District of Columbia State Meet 2018 Recap

Ziyah Holman Runs 24.51/54.40 Double in D.C.

Just a sophomore, Ziyah Holman broke her own state meet record in the 400 meters at the District of Columbia State Athletic Association Track and Field Championships on Thursday at Dunbar High,.

The Georgetown Day sprinter clocked 54.40 seconds and added a title in the 200 (24.51). She also ran on the winning 4x400 relay (3:58.45).

Holman was named the girls MVP of the meet.

"I finally can compete with the big dogs," Holman told the Washington Post.

Other standouts of the meet included Dunbar senior Thea Shaw, who set a meet record in the 300 hurdles, running 43.61 and broke an all-time D.C. record in the high jump (5-8).

Freshman Victoria Perrow of Archbishop Carroll set a meet record in the 100-meter dash (12.10). Teammate Nile Brown won the long jump in a record leap of 18-5.75.

On the boys side, Justin Ofotan of The Field School broke a meet record in the 200 (21.61) and won the 100 (10.64).

Taahir Kelly, a junior at Roosevelt won the 400 in a meet record time (48.25), and ran the anchor on the 4x400 (3:24.43).

Standout sophomore distance runner Luke Tewalt of Washington Latin won the 1,600 (4:18.65) and 3,200 (9:33.66), both new meet records. He finished third in the 800 (1:59.64) as Woodrow Wilson senior Isaac Frumkin finished first in 1:56.39.

In the hurdles, junior Kendel Hammock of Archbishop Carroll swept titles in the 110s (14.77) and 300s (40.07).

Phelps Career senior Arno Landry-Fonkoue jumped to victories in the long jump (21-10.5) and triple (45-0).

RESULTS

Team Champions - Woodrow Wilson boys 84 points, Archbishop Carroll and Dunbar girls 108 points (tied)
